I am a professional homeopath living in Oregon, USA. I am an ex-electrical engineer and still sometime software and web developer. I've been interested in homeopathy and alternative health since 1996, when I arrogantly thought that homeopathy was a ritualized way of exploiting the placebo effect and I was going to be clever and figure out how it worked. However, what I discovered didn’t support my theory and I ended up with a different world view and a different profession. To paraphrase J.R.R. Tolkein: It's a dangerous business asking questions with an open mind. There's no knowing where you might be swept off to.

This blog is about homeopathy and alternative health care, and it’s about science vs. scientism. I’ve found that it’s impossible to talk in detail about homeopathy to non-homeopaths without talking about how homeopathy (and natural healing in general) belongs to a different paradigm. I’m also a science lover as well as a homeopathy lover, and I'm interested in the roles of both science and the “woo-woo stuff” in homeopathy, and in our culture in general.

This is not a blog attempting to "prove" homeopathy. Sometimes parts of the "no, it's not placebo" arguments will find their way here, but mostly I'll refer to others who are advocating for homeopathy. I prefer to advocate by getting good results with patients. In this blog, I'd rather go deeper and get into the details that are more interesting to those who are involved with or curious about homeopathy and natural healing, both the woo-woo parts and the scientific parts.

If you know me, you know that I'm a questioner, a skeptical person, and I like to analyze things. I'm a also professional homeopath. If those two statements seem like a contradiction, you can believe that I'm crazy or have found religion if you like, but know that my experience is that homeopathy is the real deal, not a belief, theory, or interpretation. If you just want to tell me that I'm foolish or a quack because of that, or repeat arguments that homeopathy = the placebo effect, please go elsewhere. If you are interested in what follows from homeopathy being the real deal, welcome!
